Mental Addition (1-6)
This deck introduces mental calculation. The previous card decks teach the concepts and used physical movement of the cards and numbers. This deck introduces how to move the numbers in your mind without physical movement or counting with your fingers.
Mental Addition (1-6) teaches kids to mentally calculate simple addition equations in their mind. At first they may need to use their fingers, but with practice, this deck will teach kids to work out the math equations mentally.
Your brain is a muscle. In order to strengthen your brain muscle you need to work it out. Practice, repetition, and introducing new concepts to challenge your brain will make it stronger.
OVERVIEW & PURPOSE
Week 3 of the 1st Grade CountFast program focuses on using repetition and quick calculation to create long-term memory of simple addition equations. This module includes equations to solve each day, with an emphasis on recording how long it takes each day to solve those equations correctly. Spend 15 minutes each day on one of the activities listed in this module. Card decks should go home with students each day for additional practice with a parent at home. Each week, a new deck is introduced and the previous deck is for the student to keep at home for continued practice.
